This last week or so has been a very long and s l o w week.
I have tried very hard to live in the moment. This is the last week I will be pregnant.... ever. I have tried to be grateful for every little last experience and enjoy every little last kick. This has been hard to do, as I have also been feeling very anxious and excited for the B Day to arrive. I scheduled something, or had something to look forward to every day, so that I could more easily live day by day.
Monday - I got my hair done in late afternoon. It's been nine months since my last hair appointment, so I was REALLY looking forward to this. I love my hair stylist, and count her as a good friend. It was a very relaxing hour.
Tuesday - I had choir rehearsal that night. Jason and I sing in the Portland Ensign Choir and Orchestra . I was really not looking forward to going to this rehearsal, but I was looking forward to getting it over with. I really want to sing in this concert, and I promised myself I would push through and attend the 3 rehearsals before the scheduled birth. I did it! Now I get to take several weeks off. I felt really great afterwards.
Wednesday - Jason worked a half day, after working four 12 hour shifts out of the 5 days previous. After his short 8 hours on Wednesday he would be off for as long as 6 weeks for paternity leave! I was really looking forward to Wednesday afternoon! It felt like a holiday when he came home. He has been SO helpful, and having him home is wonderful!!!!
Thursday - We had friends over for dinner and a movie night. I made this yummy dessert - Banana Carmel Cream Trifle based on this recipe HERE. (I just adore Pinterest!)
Friday - I gotta say, this was the most exciting night I was looking forward to. It was our second Gourmet Club event. It was AWESOME!
The theme was Tropical - the invitation had "The Cook Islands" as the location. It was very relaxing and heavenly.
Bennett and I watched Winnie the Pooh to pass the afternoon away. He's going to miss my belly.
The yellow flower was a hair clip that doubled as part of the napkin ring. The little brown bag was our name card along with another take home gift inside. Check out the link for Gourmet Escape above, or on my side bar for all the details.
They couldn't decide on a dessert, so there were FIVE desserts spread on a beautiful dessert table! It was WAY TOO MUCH FUN!
Saturday - My mom flew in!!!! She was here to go to Maxwell's soccer game in the afternoon. Having her come for two weeks was definitely something to look forward to. Jason and I both LOVE her being here. She is the best mother and mother in law. She knows when to step in, and when to back off. (Not that I ever want or need her to back off :)
Jason and Max after his game. He played great!
Sunday - I felt great till right about church time. I made it through 2 of 3 hours, so that was good. I had to come home. I was starting to feel sick, and had a lot of pain. The baby was very active, my bladder felt like it was tearing, and the we had record breaking heat!
Mom, Bennett and I came home to relax. We had delicious Turkey burgers that I had made, and put in the freezer. The recipe is from my Gourmet Club, under the event Doo Wop Diner.
As the evening went on I got hotter, and sicker.
At midnight when I was trying to get myself into bed I came to the horrible realization that I had a bad Urinary Tract Infection. I've had this happen before at the end of pregnancy, and the symptoms are slightly different than when I have one not pregnant.
I was so upset, knowing that I go in for surgery in a day and a half, and I have this infection now. I was ready to go to the hospital. Jason talked me into calling the on call doctor. The on call doctor said that usually they would like a urinalysis to know for sure, but for me he would just call in a prescription for antibiotics.
I then took Tylenol, and kind of slept.
Monday -I had a rough night, and a rough morning. I was wanting to relax today, and maybe go out to lunch with my mom. Jason had a presentation to do at a medical conference in Salem. The kids were all at school, except Bennett.
I was in too much pain, and too foggy in my head to do anything. I'm glad my mom is here. I hope I've said that enough.
I woke up this morning feeling dread for tomorrow.
I'm not looking forward to the surgery and all that it involves. I've mentioned before that I have dealt with pretty bad anxiety and depression in past pregnancies. This time my mind has been protected, and I have been so grateful. Though for today, it seems that I am just making up for the past few months.
For now I think it's just best that I end this post, and sign back in after baby is here. After all is said and done I will feel so much better.
Wish me luck!
